In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about The Royal Indian Navy mutiny or revolt, also called the 1946 Naval Uprising. In December 1945 BC Dutt and his small band of ‘Azad Hindi’ vandalised HMIS Talwar with Anti British Slogans which culminated in a full revolt in February 1946.

Bombay was the initial flashpoint and later found support throughout British India, from Karachi to Calcutta (now Kolkata), and ultimately came to involve over 20,000 sailors in 78 ships and shore establishments.
