In the past few weeks, many Indians living in Ireland have been victims of racist attacks.
These attacks have shocked the Indian community and raised concerns about safety.
What exactly happened ? Let me explain.
On July 19, a 40-year-old Indian man working for Amazon.
He was attacked in Ireland and his face was injured, his clothes were torn during the assault.
Again a 32-year-old Indian man was attacked, suffering a bone fracture.
The attackers shouted at him, Go back to your own country.
On August 6, an Indian man cycling to work was attacked.
The same day a 6-year-old Indian girl was attacked by local children.
All these attacks were made by teenagers and early adults like students.
These attacks happen based on the colors.
Irish President Michael D. Higgins has made a strong statement condemning racism.
He said, attacks on Indians are shameful.
Ireland and our people’s values are good, not racism.
Indian contributions are very helpful for Ireland to grow high.
People who come to Ireland for a living must be treated with respect.
India and Ireland share a deep historical connection, starting from the freedom struggle.
If we forget that, we lose part of ourselves.
Following these incidents, the Indian Embassy in Dublin has issued a warning to all Indians.
