Today, we’re sharing one of the things we care most about at SHRO: inspiring young medical students.

This is the story of Sabrina Caprara, a bright student from Italy who’s here in Philadelphia to develop her thesis on retinoblastoma.

Thanks to a partnership between SHRO, the University of Siena, and Temple University, we offer scholarships that allow students to explore their thesis work in our labs turning academic interest into real-world experience.

Watching their eyes light up, hearing them say “this feels like a dream”, is what drives us. We want to tell every young student: trust your path, stay curious, and never stop learning.

Sabrina’s is just one of over 400 stories we’ve helped write.

Alongside research, we’ll keep building bridges between Italy and the U.S. to give medical students new perspectives and real opportunities.
