Treatment to debilitated Elephant begging for life in a canal with deep torment and pain

This elephant has been shot in the leg by an evil man. He had the misfortune of falling in to a ditch when he was limping in difficulty with injured leg. Wildlife officers backed by the villagers rushed the spot as soon they got the news about this distressed elephant. A villager who had first spotted the elephant had informed the wildlife officers. The elephant is believed to have fallen two days earlier.
Poor elephant has been stuck in the narrow ditch without any energy. Due to the heavy body weight of this elephant it is unable to get him out of the ditch without any support provided by itself. But due to the intense pain of the wound in the leg the elephant cannot get up and can’t provide any support from his body to come out of the ditch. It is suspected that leg has been fractured too and the spinal code also been damaged.
The elephant cannot be pulled out. There’s no other option than treating the injured leg and get it healed, so that the elephant can provide support from his body itself to make his way out from the ditch. The wildlife officers hurriedly started the treatment as directed by the veterinary surgeon. The mission was extremely difficult since there’s a possibility to sink in to the mud in the bottom of the ditch. But without considering the life risk the officials dedicated to treat this poor elephant with great sympathy.
They administered multi vitamin to boost energy of the elephant. Large dose of antibiotics were injected to boost the immunity to heal the wound and prevent infection. Anti-inflammatory drugs and pain killers were also administered. Without considering the difficulties officers are performing their duty. They had to grab the vines on the bund to keep them against sinking in to the mud.
After injecting painkillers, antibiotics and multivitamins the external injuries in the leg were smeared with antibiotic spray to prevent infection through the wound.
Then they took actions to widen the ditch with the help of a backhoe. After administering the multivitamins and painkillers they hoped that the elephant would get energy to lift itself. But it was in vain. The elephant was still not strong enough to give a support to lift his body. So they decided to continue the treatment to the elephant until the leg is healed and till the elephant regain its lost energy. Still the treatment is going on. There’s a slow progress on his recovery. Happy to say now he is slightly moving his body and now he is eating the fruits provided by the villagers. Although his condition is critical, wildlife officers strongly believe that they can save the life of this innocent elephant. Hope to update you soon about this poor elephant.
