Today, we visit the Cedar Bridge Tavern of Barnegat, New Jersey. Originally erected in 1740, the tavern is believed to be the oldest surviving bar in the United States, and was the site of the final skirmish of the American Revolution, in which New Jersey Militia and the Loyalist Pine Refugees lead by Captain John Bacon clashed in a sharp confrontation. Bacon and his men, marked outlaws by the Crown and the American Republic due to their many committed atrocities, escaped.

Bacon himself would later be killed on April 3rd, 1783, ending his reign of terror in the region. He is considered to be the last casualty of the American Revolution.
