Shuren the Fire - Bird of 12 Gauge [Full Album]

The early 2000's is a great time for a subgenre of Japanese hip hop: Poetry jazz rap. The flows were different, fluctating from a conversating feeling to an almost purely rhythmic ad-libbing unlike the usual rhythm-focused rapping. The melodies of the samples were allowed presence, as these more radical flows allowed for more focus on the instrumental. Key figures were 降神, 小林大吾, and Shuren the Fire, of the Sapporo scene. Shuren, named after the character from Hokuto no Ken has left his mark primarily on how Jazz sampling was handled in J-rap, with newer albums like Sweet William & Tsubaki's Jasmine influenced by Shuren.
