Werner Krauth - Statistical Mechanics: Algorithms and Computations

This book is about Monte Carlo methods in statistical mechanics. It describes techniques in computational physics quite well, focusing on the physics rather than the computational detail. There is quite a bit of pseudocode to help you implement the processes, but it doesn't try to program for you. The emphasis is in helping you understand how the computations relate to the physics so that you can use them in your own work.

The first chapter alone, describing Monte Carlo methods, is enough (for me) to pick up this book. The remaining chapters are all gravy.
