Eastern Hemlock CLT | World's First Use of this Mass Timber Product

The result of a multi-year effort, supported by the financial contributions of a USDA Forest Service Wood Innovations Grant, among other funding sources, and carried out by a dedicated team of professionals in the northeast, the validation of the use of two wood species native to the northeast US has been completed, their use in CLT certified, and now those CLT products have officially been installed in a real construction project!

In this video, I'll take you to see the currently under construction Fairbanks Museum addition, located in St. Johnsbury, VT. This project is utilizing Eastern Hemlock CLT - which I believe is the first such application of this mass timber species in the world. Some of the back story as to how this came to be will be shared, and details of the design and construction site are shown.
