Have you been stretching your calves to fix your plantar fasciitis pain? Not seeing the results you would like?
Here's the problem with plantar fasciitis stretches. Typically recommended calf stretches DO NOT train your body in a way that will restore authentic, human movement to your foot & ankle.
Firstly, calf work should be done in weight-bearing (standing). Loading to lengthen your calves like this trains your body in the motions that you do every day... like when walking, running, or standing.
If your foot and ankle are not doing the motions required when your body moves, it can lead to plantar fascia pain, meaning irritation of the fascial tissue in the foot. Therefore, you need exercises that train your body to restore those functions to be able to walk without pain.
The solution is to perform calf loading in 3-plane motion. Your feet and ankles need to move in 3 planes of motion when walking, even if it just looks like you're moving forward. Those 3 planes are: sagittal plane (front and back), frontal plane (side-to-side), and transverse plane (rotation). Restoring 3-plane function to your feet and ankles will often relieve the pain and irritation that is diagnosed as plantar fasciitis.
Remember, the goal is to train your body the way you use your body in daily life. When doing the calf loading, never go into motions that cause pain. Even the smallest of pain-free movements can cause big changes over time as your body is retrained to function authentically.
