Eric Pritchard is first violinist of the Ciompi Quartet of Duke University. He studied at the New England Conservatory, the Indiana University School of Music and the Juilliard School, where he received a Master of Music in 1985. His principal teachers were Josef Gingold, Ivan Galamian, Eric Rosenblith and Giorgio Ciompi. Pritchard was awarded First Prizes at the London International String Quartet Competition and at the Coleman and Fischoff national chamber music competitions.

Pianist Carl Banner is co-founder and director of Washington Musica Viva. A musician since childhood, he studied with, among others, Harold Zabrack, Leon Fleisher, Leo Smit, and Leonard Shure, and performed in numerous solo and chamber concerts from the age of 14. He was awarded a PhD in cell biology from Harvard University in 1983, and pursued a 20 year career in biomedical research. In 2004, Banner retired from the National Institutes of Health in order to devote full time to producing and performing concerts with Washington Musica Viva.
