Eps 26 - Touring Lembata - Going From Lembata to Alor - Around Indonesia on my Small Motorcycle

On this episode of my Grand Motorcycle trip around Indonesia, I finally managed to find a way from the island of Lembata to the island of Alor. As mind-boggling and inconvenient as it was for me to navigate through the difficulties of trans-island travel, I realise that my experience as a traveller simply passing through on a motorcycle is nothing compared to the every day struggle of the people living here. The lack of Internet signal, the empty petrol stations, the often badly damaged road and the erratic (sometimes non-existent) ferry/boat schedule could drive the most patient of us to madness yet, the resilient people of Lembata keep going through their daily lives with a smile on their face, a sparkle in their eyes, and a world of kindness in their heart. As a foreigner from a land where everything is so organised, efficient and easy to do, and yet is often filled with anger and rage at even the smallest discomfort, I found this quite humbling and am always grateful for even the tiniest step forward towards my destination. It's all part of the journey, and in the end, it's the journey that matters, not the destination.
