This video covers many VW models and years and shows how you can restore the speedometer in your instrument cluster by changing the VSS switch!!!! (available at autozone or online) Warning .. sometimes the failure is caused by the circuit board on the speedometer itself... In the video I mis-spoke about the tachometer also being controlled by the VSS - it is not. The tachometer has a separate sensor. If you are having issues with multiple guages, it may be the circuit board as mentioned above.    • Fixing soldering on VW MK3 cluster   is a video just posted on the comment section that shows how to repair the soldering joints.
