Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel’s Ministry of Defense have completed the Iron Beam 450, a 100-kilowatt high-energy laser weapon now ready for deployment with the Israel Defense Forces. Developed with Elbit Systems and the Israeli Air Force, the system recently passed final operational tests in southern Israel, successfully intercepting rockets, mortars, UAVs, and aircraft.

Set for integration into Israel’s multi-layered air defense network by late 2025, Iron Beam will work alongside the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Arrow systems, offering a low-cost defense option powered solely by electricity. As the world’s first operational high-power laser weapon, Iron Beam positions Israel at the forefront of next-generation air defense and could reshape global defense economics.
