Facing elimination in the closing minutes of the third period, the defending SPHL champion Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs prevailed late in Game Two of their first round series against the Quad City Storm. The Dawgs eventually won Game Two 3-2 before eliminating the Storm in Game Three.

Born and raised in Roanoke, VA, Mitch has served as the Voice of his hometown Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs in the Southern Professional Hockey League for the past three seasons. In 2022, Mitch was one of 26 professionals throughout the Roanoke Valley to be named to the Valley Business FRONT Leaders List for 2022, and was the youngest person recognized on the list. In the 2023-2024 season, Mitch won the inaugural SPHL Broadcaster of the Year Award, given to the league's best broadcaster and voted on by media members across the league.

In addition to his experience broadcasting nearly 200 professional hockey games in the SPHL, Mitch also has called Big Ten football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, and volleyball during his college days at Penn State.
