Apna Farz Sewa is a deeply moving documentary that explores the life and mission of Satpal Singh Kharoud and the Apna Farz Society in Village Lachkani, Patiala. What began in 2019 as a singular moment of compassion for a dying woman has transformed into a massive mission to rescue, heal, and house those the world has abandoned.

The Mission
The film documents the tireless efforts of a dedicated team who provide a home to those facing mental health challenges, individuals who have been expelled by their families, or those found living in "hellish" conditions on the roadsides. From nursing severe physical wounds to providing daily medical care and meals, the society operates on the Sikh principle that serving humanity is the supreme deed.

Stories of Resilience and Rescue
The documentary brings you face-to-face with the "godly spirits" residing at the Ashram, including:

The Survivors of Modern Slavery: Heart-wrenching accounts of individuals rescued from illegal labor, where they were kept in chains alongside cattle.

The Forgotten Soldier: A former soldier who served his country, only to be mistreated and isolated by his own family for years.

The Miracles of Healing: Stories like those of Sher Singh and Sarjit Singh, who arrived in aggressive or decaying states and have since recovered their health and dignity.

A Family Reunited: The emotional journey of Diljot Singh, who found his uncle through the society after searching fruitlessly for 12 years.

A Vision for the Future
Inspired by the legacies of Bhagat Pooran Singh Ji and Abdul Sattar Edhi, Satpal Singh and his mother, Manjit Kaur, share their vision of a Punjab where no such Ashrams are needed because every village takes responsibility for its own. The film provides a behind-the-scenes look at the construction of a new, three-story facility designed to house and care for 350 people, funded entirely by public support and the tradition of Daswand.
