S-map is New Zealand’s authoritative source of information about our soils. It’s much more than a “map” and provides access to rich information about how soils perform and should be managed.

Underpinned by innovative science and advances in data modelling, S-map is updated regularly to share new knowledge, as well as the additional areas mapped each year.

An update to the S-map soil water storage information is scheduled for Tuesday 23rd April. This will mean new estimates of profile available water (PAW) and will result in changes to the nutrient budgets from OverseerFM.

Linda outlines the changes to S-map, provide insights into the underpinning science and offer advice on how to incorporate this update in current and new S-map applications.
