This is the first team made after the release of The Crown Tundra, Pokémon Sword and Shield's second and final expansion. With this one came every Legendary Pokémon up to this point, as well as a new rule allowing one Restricted Pokémon per team. Of course, I am allowed to have zero, a number I prefer. (Moltres may be a Legendary Pokémon, but it's a minor Legendary and thus not restricted.)
Though Meowstic's presence is due to it being my favorite Pokémon from Generation VI, but one I never bothered to train until now, the overall structure of this team was as a challenge and a strive for type balancing among my teams. This was a test to see if I could make a team without a Water-type Pokémon (all of my teams up to this point has had one), as well as a team using all of the Pokémon types I had only used once up to this point: Psychic (Sigilyph), Fighting (Passimian), Ghost (Cursola), and Fire (Salazzle). This means that, as of this team, I would have at least two Pokémon for all 18 types. The Meowstic Team's playlist is as such:
• Pokémon Sword & Shield - Meowstic Team

And when I considered this a challenge, it turned out to be way more difficult to use this team than I had thought! Since I had a lot of conditions to fulfill to put this together, the team itself is not quite as balanced as my other teams, even if the balance overall among all of my Pokémon has increased. This was in part due to lacking a few key answers (namely the lack of a Water Pokémon, and there being no Electric Pokémon, meant little defense against Steel attacks) and the fact that Restricted Pokémon suddenly became allowed again almost immediately after this team's completion (namely the Steel attack called Behemoth Blade). Later teams would not have this issue, as they were constructed with fighting and defeating Restricted Pokémon in mind, but I was caught off guard by it. It should not happen again in Generation IX, now that I know this is a general rule within each Pokémon generation.
As a result, this team had the most overhauls, some of which were done after subsequent teams were finished. I'm stubborn and I will make every team of mine work without swapping any Pokémon out with anything else. So over time, all of these Pokémon had their strategies changed. Meowstic went from an anti-Dynamax scheme involving Eject Button to a Psychic Terrain one involving Psychic Seed. Nihilego stopped trying to remove hold items (you can't take that Rusted Sword from Zacian no matter how much you try if you're not its original trainer) and became a more straightforward attacker. Moltres got Scorching Sands and had its Charcoal replaced with Charti Berry to survive to throw Max Quakes at Rock-type opponents. Sandaconda had Sand Spit replaced with Shed Skin to deal with issues from Endure's 1 HP subverted with Poison and Burn. Decidueye shifted from trying to outrun with Choice Scarf to just using priority moves. Kommo-o had her Effort Points changed to withstand attacks to allow Weakness Policy to activate.
But all of this worked, and I would deem the present-day Meowstic Team to be as useful as all of my other teams. Turns out I never needed a Water Pokémon in the first place. It shows the importance of adapting to the metagame as it changes. It also shows how much I can now revise a team after I had completed it thanks to the mechanics either introduced or made easier to access this generation.
