To bring you the latest in new home design, NewHomeSource recently filmed a 2013 Southern Living Showcase Home in Lago Vista, Texas, near Austin, that was built by Silverton Custom Homes.

Take a tour of this gorgeous, lakeside home -- in this episode, we showcase the Southern Living Showcase Home's rustic exterior, which features limestone and wood siding and Madera tile roofing.

TRANSCRIPT:

00:05 Speaker 1: This particular house was stick-framed on-site with 2 x 6 exterior studs. The trusses on the interior of our home are made of fir. They were hand-distressed, built on-site, doweled together to look rustic, but yet timeless and warm.

00:24 S1: Our window package and exterior package comes from a company called Sierra Pacific out of Redding, California, and superb windows, highly energy-efficient, argon filled, double glazing, with high-performance Low-E glass that has the metal-clad exteriors, and true wood windows. And the operating windows are casement windows, and just a finger touch should be able to operate these particular windows.

00:53 S1: We have two roof systems. One is a Madera concrete tile roof to look more like the old Cedar Shake in the center portion, and then we have a bridge 24 gauge metal roof standing seam on the other parts of the house. We also have two exterior masonry features. One is the limestone in a flagstone pattern, that is more of a weathered or buffed, and then also, a product that is a stucco-type product to meet the deed restrictions of the neighborhood. That is from LP. It's called Carrera and it's a SmartSide type product, very low maintenance, very aesthetically appealing, and we're able to utilize it on the board and batten style that this house features.

01:43 S1: The interior hardwood floors are from a company by the name of Mirage out of Canada and these floors are a hard maple. The color's an impregnated color, and they are just beautiful floors, but also very resistant to wear, and tear, and traffic.

02:00 S1: This home is very energy-efficient, not only with the exterior windows and door package from Sierra Pacific, but the open cell foam insulation in the attic and the exterior 2 x 6 walls, as well as the tankless propane water heaters. Just a lot of great features throughout the home. Adding to the energy-efficiency of this home, is the pre-wiring that is already set up for future solar panels, in the event the new homeowner would like that.
