How to Knit Nupps: Big Elegance in Little Bundles

Описание к видео How to Knit Nupps: Big Elegance in Little Bundles

The nupp, a fancy knitting stitch most commonly associated with the knitted lace of Haapsalu, Estonia, is both beautiful and elegant.

Unfortunately, word has got about they are difficult to work–and so many knitters avoid them.

But they're not difficult. As with anything else in knitting, a bit of learning, followed up with practice, will make this stitch a handsome addition to your lace knitting.

There are several ways to work nupps. This video includes the method I use, which requires no crochet hook and, once mastered, is speedy and reliable.

In addition to showing you the steps, I outline the fundamental structure of nupps (including the reason they're always numbered) and talk about needles and yarns that work well with the technique.
