Dr. Harris: In addition to the work that I try to do to minimize the trauma that a patient has for any sort of surgery, to minimize the level of invasiveness and maximize the recovery, I've also been developing instruments to help do that. I'm also working on one this is patent pending at the present time, a new concept of joint replacement that will hopefully improve the longevity and diminish the number of revisions that need to be done. Occasionally, hip replacements don't work out, regardless of who does them. There are times when the implant needs to be removed, and if an implant is not positioned well, then getting the implant out is not an easy task. So this device is designed to allow for easy removal of acetabular components of the cup socket of the ball and socket joint, hip, without having to have a direct line of sight to the face of the implant.
