AMD Radeon R9 290X Retrospective & Review - AMD's Fine Wine In Action

AMD's R9 290X was an interesting entry in the Radeon lineup, it was power hungry, loud and not a huge amount faster than the Radeon R9 290, but the card also had a ton of performance, not that much slower than Nvidia's then flagship GeForce GTX 780 Ti, and the GCN 2 architecture also means that even today it supports DX12 titles (albiet, only DX12_0 and not the later iterations of DirectX12).

In this video we pit the card against the lowest entry level RDNA 1 GPU, AMD's Radeon RX 5500 XT and also a slightly more expensive nvidia card (a GTX 1660 super) for sake of comparison and benchmark several games and just talk about how for a short period in gaming history, the Radeon R9 290X was an immense graphics card.
