Palestinian President, Yasser Arafat, on Wednesday (18/9) held talks in Gaza with the US Middle East Envoy, Dennis Ross, and later announced that both were still committed to the peace process.

SOT Arafat (in English): "We discussed ways of pushing the peace process and not to forget the peace treaty that was signed under the supervision of President Clinton in the White House and America was one of the co-sponsors and no doubt they will do all they can to push for the peace process;"
SOT Ross: "One of the things we both agreed on the importnace of trying to work as quickly as possible with the tangible results...to translate the agenda that was agreed upon to get good results that can be made on the ground. We are committed to the process and helping however we can. The Amercian position on settelements hasn't changed... We continue to see it as a problem...";
SOT Arafat: " No doubt this decision by Mr. Mordechai to build more houses is another breach of the treaty.";
