First off I'm not a mechanic by any means but, after I received quotes from a few local repair shops I was like... this seems outrageous just to replace an alternator $450 to $600 just for the labor and a markup on the part. So, I called the parts store and got a quote on a new unit. The local shops give a lifetime guarantee but the online stores have great warranties also. The price difference is a lot so, I would recommend that to buy online if you can wait to get the unit in the mail. Amazon is great for getting it quick. Remember you can do this repair and you don't need any special tools just a few basic tools to get it done and save hundreds in cash.
