The concept of the movie star is dying. Movie stars used to drive people to the movie theater, but their influence has been on the decline since the 2010's. The concept of the movie star is a shell of its former self, and this video examines why, exactly, the concept of the movie star is on the decline.

This video discusses the origins of the first movie star, Florence Lawrence, and discusses the rise of the movie star during the golden age of Hollywood, the end of the movie star system, the transition to independent performers, and the rise of intellectual properties--before combining everything together and discussing the death of the movie star.
