Yoga incorporates and harmonises the different psychological aspects and aims found in Nature. While Yoga transcends cosmic Nature to realise the Divine beyond creation, it does so through the individual’s highest capacities. Essential to Yoga are three elements: God, Nature, and the human soul, with the transcendent needed to elevate the individual. The concept of Ishwara, the supreme Self, is crucial, and Yoga practices involve the body, vital functions, or mental faculties to achieve union with the Divine. The main types of Yoga, from Hathayoga to the triple Path, focus on different aspects of the human personality to realise spiritual truth.
Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950) was a multifaceted Indian revolutionary, yogi, philosopher, and poet. He envisioned humanity at an evolutionary crossroads, declaring, "man is a transitional being." He believed we face a crucial choice: continue on our current path or embrace a transformative evolution towards a brighter future.
Sri Aurobindo's monumental work, "The Synthesis of Yoga," deconstructs and synthesises the rich diversity of Indian yoga traditions. It culminates in his revolutionary Integral Yoga, a powerful vision and method for transforming human nature through the power of the divine Shakti, revealing Earth's potential for evolutionary transformation.
