Xiaomi Mi 9 Review | OnePlus 7 killer?

Review of the Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship phone after over a week of 'daily driver' use, including full camera test, battery performance, PubG Mobile shenanigans and real world usage. Is this 2019 handset, one of the cheapest boasting Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 platform, really a OnePlus 7 alternative?

With its £500 UK asking price, the Mi 9 is a clear rival to the OP7, Zenfone 6 and Honor's 20 Pro. Premium specs, a triple-lens camera packed with features, and impressive gaming prowess makes for a mostly satisfying everyday experience. However, the MiUI software is still awkward and glitchy, and I have to admit I ditched it for the Nova launcher.

Besides that, the Xiaomi Mi 9 doesn't really do anything to stand out against the OnePlus and others. It's speedy but the battery life isn't too strong, and the camera performs similar to rivals - although the Pixel 3a is a lot more user friendly.
