After the success of La Cage Aux Folles in 1983, producers expanded the 1981 off-Broadway revue Jerry's Girls into a full-scale, all-star version with a backing by an all female chorus. Its stars were Carol Channing, Leslie Uggams and Andrea McArdle. The show opened at the Royal Poinciana Playhouse in Palm Beach, Florida, on February 28, 1984, running 11 performances. It then transferred to Broadway in December 1985, with Carol and Andrea replaced by Chita Rivera and Dorothy Loudon.

First heard is Ms Uggams' medley of "I Won't Send Roses/Who Needs Roses", which is then cheered up by Ms Channing's "Tap Your Troubles Away" (4:45); Andrea then has her turn at Mabel, with "Wherever He Ain't" (7:52); Ms Channing then adapts her Cecilia Sisson monologue for Broadway (10:00); Andrea sings "Look What Happened to Mabel" (11:55), and finally, Ms Channing as Marlene Dietrich sings Jerry Herman's newest hit (11:42).
