Описание к видео ECCLESIASTES ~ LESSON 22 ~ PLEASE GOD, STOP TRYING TO CHEER ME UP ~ PART 2

When we are doing something good; something as simple as cleaning our room, doing our homework, pleasing our parents, pleasing our families, pleasing our teachers, pleasing our bosses, PLEASING GOD? Life feels bountiful, beautiful and sweet.

When I am fulfilling my obligations and being a good husband, pleasing my wife, being a good father and Grandpa, being a good, contributing member of my church, and walking as best I can with GOD, I LOVE MY LIFE! Life is good! GOD is good! We see HIS love, grace and beauty everywhere and in everything. But when I am falling short, feeling like I am disappointing or behaving in ways that hurt or shame my family, shame GOD then I hate life. And then I, like Solomon, begin to question life, love, GOD, unreasonably and illogically.

I believe Solomon was experiencing the same thing. His father, David, was indeed "a man after God's own heart" 1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22 despite grave sins like the affair with Bathsheba (Solomon's mother) and the murder of Uriah. God not only forgave David but blessed Solomon as his successor, anointing him with unmatched wisdom 1 Kings 3:5-14, wealth, power, and peace during his reign.

Solomon built the Temple, expanded Israel's influence, and started strong by seeking God's guidance. Yet, as you note, Solomon's later life (detailed in 1 Kings 11 and Ecclesiastes) shows a man unraveling. He married 700 wives and had 300 concubines, many foreign, leading him to idolatry (worshiping Ashtoreth, Molek, etc
He amassed excessive wealth, horses, and chariots—directly violating God's commands in Deuteronomy 17:16-17. Ecclesiastes reads like a confession of futility: "Vanity of vanities! All is vanity”.

Did He Feel He Let Down His Family and People? Absolutely. Solomon likely carried the weight of David's legacy—David's dying words urged him to follow God faithfully 1 Kings 2:1-4
