Rangeela's real name was Muhammad Saeed Khan. He was born on January 1, 1937, in the district of Nangarhar, Afghanistan. He had a passion for physical exercise since he was a teenager. Looking at this passion, it can be said that if he were not an actor, he would have been a bodybuilder.
For Rangeela livelihood, he studied painting and first migrated to Peshawar to earn a living as a painter, but seeing that he did not have much success here, he eventually turned to Lahore where luck helped him and he became a film sign board as a painter. When his passion for filmmaking became obsessed, Rangeela decided to work as an actor in films. That was in 1958. This year, Rangeela made his acting debut in the Punjabi film "Jatti". The film was directed by MJ Rana and was supposed to be released. As a result, the movie "Jatti" became a hit overnight.
After asserting himself as an actor, Rangeela stepped into the field of directing and directed his first film, Diya Aur Toofan. This film also added Sucess to Rangeela's fame. After that, he decided to make a fortune as a filmmaker and started filming under the banner of "Rangila Productions". He produced many films which were well received.
On September 11, 1970, his film "Rangeela" was released in which he played the lead role. On October 1, 1971, another of most successful films, Dil Aur Dunia, was released in which besides Rangeela, Habib and Asiya also appeared as co-stars.
Rangeela has won Best Screenplay Writer, Best Comedian, Best Writer and Best Director for successful films like Dil Aur Duniaدل اور دنیا,Meri zindgi Nagma, Rangeela, Nokar aur Malik, Sona chandi , Miss Colombo, baGi awr Qaidi .
Rangeela was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Excellence by the Government of Pakistan in 2004.
