8.7.87 During the talks, Soviet First Deputy Foreign Minister
LN124038 Vladislav Maljkevich said that the Japanese anti-Soviet
moves in connection with the Toshiba machine company which
exported to the Soviets numerically controlled machines in
violation of rules of an export control committee, will not
help bilateral relations. The Japanese Deputy Foreign
Minister Hiroshi Kitamura while agreeing to the need to
reduce trade imbalance, said Japan abides by the
committee's rules as a member of the Western Bloc & it is
natural to punish companies & individuals that violate
related domestic laws.
