We start off flying into the stage with no music. This silence persists as long as I stay in the starting area. The music begins (00:31) when the player jumps off and lands in the water. When the player surfaces (01:00) you'll notice the music becomes saturated with a lot of reverb. Then when the player dives back under (01:13) the music becomes dry again. This surface reverb happens when the player is above water but stays still.

As soon as the player moves (01:40) the music shifts to another version that has a different arrangement involving more live instruments. Make no mistake, this is the same music, it's just being expressed differently. Then the player dives back below (01:58) and the music returns to the synthesized arrangement.

The next big moment (02:54) happens when the player gains the special ability for the stage which is a penguin on your back. At that point the drum layer is added to the arrangement. After the player resurfaces with the penguin, it doesn't seem to have any affect on the surface music.
