Huawei Mate 30 Pro First Look, Release Date, Design, Key Specifications, Camera, Features

Before we begin, here’s a disclaimer. OnLeaks states that a few details in the renders might not be 100 percent accurate, as they have been based on a tricky CAD. With that in mind, let’s move ahead.

As you can see above, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro makes use of a premium glass and metal construct just like its predecessor, the Mate 20 Pro. However, this time around, there are some notable tweaks to the design. To begin with, the rear panel houses a circular quad-camera module that we have already seen in a previous leak. The renders show the cameras placed in a 2 x 2 grid. On the left of the camera module, we can see a dual LED flash unit, sensor and Leica branding. As for the dimensions of the phone, it measures roughly 158.1 x 73.6 x 8.7mm, with the thickness going up to 9.7mm around the camera bump. Moving to the front of the phone, we can see the ‘waterfall’ display which was revealed through a few earlier leaks. The display is curved over both edges, and appears to flow over the sides. OnLeaks states that the display is difficult to measure given the curved edges, but estimates it to be 6.6-inches. Huawei has retained the wide display notch from the Mate 20 Pro, which might irk some users given that many smartphones are dropping the notch altogether. However, there’s a good reason for this, as the notch houses three selfie cameras as well as various sensors. As for the other elements of Huawei Mate 30 Pro, the power button is located on the right edge, while the left edge is bare. It appears that the upcoming smartphone will not have any physical volume buttons. This is in-line with a recent leak that suggested the Mate 30 Pro will feature a touch-sensitive area above the power button, which will require users to slide their finger up and down to adjust the volume. The bottom-edge is home to the ejectable SIM-card tray, USB Type-C port, microphone and loudspeaker grill, while on the top, we can see an IR blaster and secondary noise-cancelling microphone.
