Late Night Worship (Let it flow from the tables of your heart)

“The heart of worship is not music and song, but heads and hearts in joyful awe of the real Jesus.”

In the Gospel of John, chapter 4:24, Jesus remarked to the Samaritan woman that "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." The fundamental nature of worship is not merely the performance of good outward actions, but rather the engagement of the heart and the mind. Worship must be conducted with one's spirit, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and focused on the genuine truths concerning God, his Son, and his gospel. The essence of worship lies within our hearts, where we find joy and fulfillment in Jesus Christ. We express our adoration and gratitude towards Him, acknowledging the profound truths about His nature and the remarkable deeds He has accomplished on our behalf, as revealed in the Scriptures.

Worship, therefore, is not about us, but rather centered on Jesus, who is the focal point. We are mere participants, secondary to the primary focus, which is the Lord Himself. In our worship, we prioritize His commands and will, rather than our own personal desires or preferences. The song by Redman serves as a call to realign our focus, to recenter our hearts, and to remind ourselves of the true purpose and object of our worship - the Almighty and sovereign God.
