A horseback ride to Morning Eagle Falls and Grinnell Lake in Montana's Glacier National Park. The ride was 14.08 miles with spectacular views of the east side of the Garden Wall as we neared Morning Eagle Falls. After enjoying time at the falls we rode to Grinnell Lake with its deep aquamarine colors which are due to the glacial silt (rock flour) flowing from Grinnell Glacier. It was beautiful day but a bit windy at Grinnell Lake. The Grinnell place names are in memory of George Bird Grinnell who was an early proponent for the formation of Glacier National Park in 1910. Grinnell was also co-founder of the Audubon Society and Boone & Crocket Club. He championed the preservation of the North American Bison when they were nearing extinction, and helped establish the buffalo herds in Yellowstone National Park. He was a staunch supporter of preserving the Native American's way of life and their social histories. He was made an honorary member of the Blackfeet Tribe which he humbly said was one of his greatest honors. #circleysaddles #horselover #horseriding #horse #horsebackriding #horsetrails
