FULL COVERAGE PT. 7 Bridge disaster in Maryland: ship demolishes Key Bridge, people fall into water

The Francis Scott Key Bridge has collapsed into the Patapsco River after a cargo ship collided with it. We heard preliminary calls early this morning around 1:30 a.m. As of 10:30 am EST officials say there have been two people rescued and six others are missing.

Chief Kevin Cartwright, director of communications for the Baltimore City Fire Department confirmed that the bridge had been struck by "a large vessel" causing it to collapse into the Patapsco River.

The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center treated one patient, who has since been discharged.
