Richte unsere Füße auf den Weg des Friedens. -
Kapelle und Turm seien ein Zukunftstort, weil Vergangenheit nicht verdrängt werde, sagte Stäblein in seiner Predigt. Die kleine Kapelle wurde heute eingeweiht. Vor der Garnisonkirche protestierten etwa 200 Menschen gegen die Einsetzung weiterer Gelder für den Wiederaufbau des Gotteshauses. Aber wir können die Geschichte nicht einfach verschwinden lassen, man muss es zeigen, auch der Generationen die jetzt kommen und all die Zeitzeugen verlassen die Welt. Bischof Dr. Christian Stäblein: „Eine Kapelle ist und soll immer ein besonderer Ort des Friedens sein, diese Kapelle in diesem Turm in Potsdam an genau diesem Ort in besonderer Weise. Die Kapelle gehört zur Nagelkreuzgemeinschaft, auf dem Altar steht das Nagelkreuz von Coventry, durch das wir international im Gedenken an die Schrecken des Krieges und die Sehnsucht nach Aussöhnung verbunden sind. Die Kapelle im Turm gehört zu dem neuen Friedens- und Versöhnungszentrum. Die Stiftung Garnisonkirche will in der Potsdamer Nagelkreuzkapelle neben dem Turm der Kirche ab Juni ein Café einrichten. Erste Arbeiten sollen bereits im April beginnen. Das Café mit französischem Flair. Wann der restliche Turm mit Ausstellung und Aussichtsplattform zugänglich sein wird, ist noch unklar. Auch die Spitze fehlt noch, die wird noch angefertigt.
