Der Jenner

The Jenner is a mountain in Bavaria, Germany. It is part of the Göll massif within the Berchtesgaden Alps. Its summit, accessible from Schönau by cable car (Jennerbahn) since 1953, offers panoramic views to the Watzmann range and the Königssee below.

“Der Königsblick”

In addition to the diverse hiking area, the modern cable car and the cozy restaurant, the Jenner is well known for its incomparable view of the Königssee and Watzmann. A few meters below the Jenner summit there is a spacious viewing platform from which you can enjoy the view of the mountains and Lake Königssee. The Jenner summit cross is at 1,874 meters.

Summit path

From the Jennerbahn mountain station (1,800 m) a hiking trail (approx. 75 meters in altitude) leads uphill to the Jenner summit. After a 15-minute walk from the mountain station to the summit you reach the viewing platform. Once there, the Königssee literally lies at your feet. See the entire Königssee from above and enjoy the fantastic view of the entire mountain world of the Berchtesgaden Alpine National Park.
Good footwear is a prerequisite.

Königssee

The emerald-green Königssee stretches at your feet. The eight-kilometer-long lake nestles like a fjord between the mountain cliffs. The Königsblick at 1,874 m above sea level even offers a deep view of the famous pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomä. With a depth of 192 meters, the 1.2 km wide Königssee remains quite cold even in midsummer. Then it's better to watch the cool water from a distance.

Watzmann

The Watzmann is the most dominant mountain massif in the Berchtesgaden Alps. Not only its height of 2,713 meters, but above all its unusual shape make it so famous. From the Jenner you have the “Watzmann woman” right in front of you. The peaks of the Watzmann tower above it. The rugged, imposing and second highest mountain in Germany feels close enough to touch.
