1. Use healing powers.
2. Use energy shields and stims when required.
3. Don't have everybody on aggressive attack, have them on a more passive scheme and take manual control instead.
4. Keep an eye on your party members' HP bars when you've got a level in reserve and actually USE it when necessary.
5. Use the pause feature when convenient, especially to facilitate the following of Rule #4.

Follow these five rules of combat application, and you will do better than I did in this video.
