LESSON NOTES
Supporting your team for learning means seven things:

1. Understanding their personal preferences, aims, talents, goals
Get to know each person

2. Allocating work that meets those needs
…but stretches their capacity

3. Creating opportunities for people to learn
…formally (training, shadowing) and informally (assignments, reading)

4. Creating (or commissioning) a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for your team
…and building a plan to fulfill it – along with fighting for the budget you need

5. Being prepared to guide, mentor, and coach:
- Guide: nudges and advice
- Mentor: benefit of your experience
- Coach: help to find own solutions

6. Offering high-quality feedback
…supporting the process of reflective learning

7. Recognition
…and celebration of learning and progress
