About The Very Miss Dusty 'O'

The Very Miss Dusty O arrived in London town in 1989. Originally from Aldridge, she spent her early career in Birmingham utilising her talents to open and run fashion store, Trojans, selling vintage one-offs and her own creations. During her early career, Dusty O also opened her first club, The Pink Panther, which became a Birmingham trendsetter and featured the talents of the now famous DJ Andy Farley.

Dusty's early life in London was a combination of daytime shifts at an HIV Health Centre and at night as a club host and DJ with residencies at the ultra-fashionable Bambina's at Venom and Nancy's at The End. It was not long before the massive monthly club megalith 'Puscha' snapped her up as resident host and DJ. During this time, Dusty toured continually forming collaborations with every major player in Europe and soon added legendary club night 'Bang' to her list of residencies; a collaboration lasting many years. 'Bang' was followed by a seven-year stint at The Limelight on Sunday night.

Alongside Popstarz mogul Simon Hobart, Dusty opened 'Don't Call Me Babe' at Ghetto, lasting nine years until the closure of the venue. Other past residencies include G-A-Y at The Astoria, Camp Attack and Heaven on Saturday for two years and Popcorn at Heaven on Monday for five years. Dusty has also worked with Ku Bar's Gary Henshaw, hosting her own nights 'Church' at Cafe De Paris and 'O Zone' at Ku Klub. In 1994, Dusty launched avante-garde cabaret club night 'Trannyshack' at what was then the Soho revue Bar. 'Trannyshack' is now at Madame JoJo's every Wednesday and has developed a massive cult following.



Bar residencies include CXR, Brief Encounter, The Fridge Bar, Circa, Ku Bar and Escape to mention but a few plus a two year Saturday residency at Brighton's famous Revenge club.

Dusty has hosted many large festivals and Pride celebrations, most recently the World Pride stage (London 2012) and a Trannyshack stage at Summer Rites (London) as well as Brighton Pride stages several times.

Dusty has written a music column for London-based gay scene magazine 'QX' for the last four years and has had articles published in Out In The City, Boyz, DNA, Thud and several other national magazines.
