Mr. Pillai studied at The Bishop's School, Pune, and earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from Savitribai Phule Pune University. He received an award for Excellence in Healthcare and Medical Education.

He supports policy changes to increase the number of doctors, improve FMGE pass rates, and make medical training more accessible and high-quality. Through his leadership, he is shaping the future of healthcare and education.

In this podcast, we talk about the real problems faced by FMG (Foreign Medical Graduate) students in India. Even though these students study in NMC-approved colleges abroad, they still have to pass the FMG exam to work as doctors in India. Many people wrongly think FMG students are weak in basics or practical knowledge, but that's not true. Some colleges abroad don’t give proper training, but many are good.

We also discuss how hard it is for students to adjust in new countries due to different languages, food, and culture. Countries like the Philippines, Russia, and Georgia are seen as better places for MBBS, while China and Ukraine are not recommended.

We also talk about unfair rules like unpaid internships and how FMGs are treated like second-class citizens. The FMG exam has a low pass rate, but that’s because many old students keep trying again and again.

Mr. Pillai shares that the solution is a common exit exam for all doctors, whether they study in India or abroad. He also says students should check college quality, alumni support, cost, and real reviews before choosing a country.
