Faced with the growing and exigent demand for information, there is a growing worldwide trend to make use of administrative records in the generation of statistics. This implies identifying and characterizing administrative records and their providers.
That is why the "Presidential Agency for International Cooperation", the "Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC)", with the participation of National Statistical Institutes of Bolivia, Colombia, Chile and Peru have articulated the project on "System of Statistical Records for the Exploitation of Administrative Data".
This project proposes, firstly, to consolidate the conceptualization of the basic statistical records of businesses and activities and to establish the operational bases for the implementation of an integrated system of administrative records; secondly, the development of an IT platform that efficiently manages the inventories of administrative records and suppliers based on a harmonized minimum set of concepts and processes defined by National Statistical Institutes and process experts.
