Walking through the narrow streets of the Old City, I made my way to the hidden Maronite Monastery, just a few steps away from Jaffa Gate. The path itself already feels like a journey back in time, leading into a quiet courtyard that opens into this unique place.
Inside, the monastery carries a sense of peace. It serves as the Maronite Patriarchate in Jerusalem, and at the same time, it welcomes pilgrims who come here from Lebanon and all over the world. The atmosphere is simple and authentic, far from the busy crowds of the city.
But the real highlight comes when you climb up to the roof. From here, the entire Old City spreads out in a breathtaking 360-degree view. You can see the domes, the towers, the ancient rooftops, and beyond them the modern skyline of Jerusalem. It feels like standing on a bridge between past and present, faith and history.
For me, this visit wasn’t just about discovering a hidden monastery. It was about pausing above the city, feeling its heartbeat, and realizing again how many stories, traditions, and communities are woven together in Jerusalem.
