Bassline note-for-note as played on the original recording by the legendary bassist, Stanley Clarke.
This video is a REMIX because I "slowed down" Stanley's neat fast riff which repeats throughout the Solo Section, and I "slowed down" the Bass Solo, to enable the listener to see and hear the notes actually played on the recording. I used 'Audacity' and ''Transcribe' software set at 70% to slow down those 'fast' sections, which, now are not only more audible, but perhaps more Funky too.
Please excuse some little errors as it required nine (9) days to transcribe all this and get my fingers to go for the 'right notes'. The Aim of the video is to showcase the many techniques employed by Stanley Clarke in his own composition. There are: Popping notes; double-stops based on root and 5th; playing together an F and a G (only one step apart) to create 'tension; Counterpoint; many 16th note figures; use of grace notes approaching a note; 'ghost' or 'dead' notes (usually 16th notes) to add Funk to the riff; slide down from a note; slide down from two notes of a root and 5th; hand, or finger vibrato; the use of open strings while playing riffs "across the neck"; and in the Outro: use of the 1st - 5th - 9th.
*Note: Be forewarned: there is another transcription with tab of Vulcan Worlds in published form/and on the internet and I checked it out and discovered several wrong notes in it. (for example: at 0.44 they have the first note of the riff as a C#, when in fact, D is the correct note there).
Do not expect me to provide a tab of this. My hobby is just to illustrate the bassline as performed on the FRETBOARD -- not in a tab read-out.
