Racing Classics at NHRA: A Retro Revival

Temperatures were soaring but the engines kept roaring at NHRA Museum's Twilight Cruise Night in Pomona, California in September 2024. The most dedicated classic car owners enjoyed chatting with others about their cars even as temperatures were about 104 degrees F.
Twilight Cruise Nights, which are held a stone's throw from the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds, are open every first Wednesday and allow attendees to attend the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Motorsports Museum for free during the show's hours of 3 pm-7 pm. Normally, tickets for adults are $12. Donations to the NHRA Museum are welcome and memberships are available.
The Museum's mission is to celebrate the impact of motorsports on American culture. The Museum collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets the vehicles, stories and artifacts that represent America's affection for, and the influence of, automotive speed and style in all its forms.

The Museum's collection includes dragsters, land speed vehicles, race cars, customs, hot rods and a changing array of one-of-a-kind vehicles that tell the story of American hot rodding. The museum is located in a historic Art Deco style exposition building on the grounds of the Los Angeles County Fairplex, which is also home to In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip. The National Hot Rod Association has had a continuous presence here since it's very first event, the Southern California Championships, were held at this drag strip on an April weekend in 1953. Today, the NHRA has two national races here, the Winternationals in March and the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in November.
