My recipe for a great hot snack or desert...... trail apple pie.

Made with just 5 simple ingredients (which you can change if you want).

At home: Start with 6 apples. Peel & core, cut into small cubes. Dehydrate at 140°F for 12 hrs. Should be leathery and pliable.

Place ~½c bread crumbs in baggie. Place 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp sugar and ¼tsp cinnamon into baggie. Place ½c of apples into ziplock or vacseal back and insert baggies of sugars & crumbs.

On trail or at campsite: Place ½c water and apples in boil pot / sauce pan. Bring water to roiling boil. Turn off flame, place lid on pot/pan and let simmer for 5-10 minutes. If necessary, repeat boiling & simmering. Add sugars and cinnamon and relight/boil one more time, stirring occasionally. When apples are fully rehydrated, add bread crumbs and turn off stove.

Stir all ingredients until bread crumbs are fully soaked. Your hot, sweet snack / desert is ready to eat! Enjoy with a cup of hot apple cider.
