Behind The Vertical Vs On The Bit With Olympian Gina Smith

Описание к видео Behind The Vertical Vs On The Bit With Olympian Gina Smith

Olympian Gina Smith lays the foundation for great riding with this simple exercise to check to see if your horse is working correctly on the bit or if he is moving behind the vertical. The difference is quite subtle and can be a difficult balance for some riders to achieve and understand, especially if you are riding a horse that has an issue with the contact.

In this video Olympian Gina Smith works on bend and flexion of the dressage horse, while testing the elasticity in the warm up. Keeping the horse supple and on the aids is essential to accomplishing your goals. In a quiet and classical manner Gina Smith accomplishes this with a few simple exercises to create a balance between bend and flexion of the dressage horse.

Gina was named to the Canadian Equestrian Team in 1984. That same year she was named reserve rider for the 1984 Olympic Team in Los Angeles. In 1986, when the World Championships were held in Cedar Valley, Ontario, Gina was a member of the fifth placed home team with Malte. Gina was now training in Germany with Siegfried (Bimbo) Peilicke, and in 1988 she and Malte were members of the Olympic Team in Seoul, Korea that brought home the team bronze medal. Gina and Malte also finished twelfth individually.
