The return of the Robotmakers only deepens the enigma of the robot with the anger management problem. Original music created with Moog, MOTM, Dotcom, Cynthia and homemade modulars, Fender, Phantom guitars and Vox amps. Original video filmed with rng35 35mm adapter, OM and Lensbabies lenses. There are some interesting synth bits:
At 0:59 to 1:11, and 2:15 to 2:30, there's a synth line that's played without envelope generators or triggers. Instead, the VCA (and VCF) are controlled by the X-axis of a Novation RemoteSL xy pad. The Y-axis is vibrato. A footpedal through a MOTM pedal interface controls the rate of downward glide of a MOTM lag processor. It's a revelation how different it is to play this way - like driving a manual transmission car in London (for an American). The sound is a Moog 921AB through a Dotcom instrument interface (for gain) through a Cynthia Sawtooth Animator (a very useful tool), Moog 907, 904a and a JH String Filter (expertly built by www.krisp1.com into a MOTM panel). By altering the gain on the instrument interface, you can fine-tune the sawtooth animator sound.
Throughout there's a hammond-esque organ that's actually 4 synch'ed Moog921AB VCOs producing sine waves, through the Moog 907 and sampled into Kontakt. The sound is then processed in Cubase with distortion and rotary vst plug-ins.
The bass in the chorus is the Sawtooth Animator through a Moog 904a panned to one side and an RA Minimoog panned to the other. The horns in the chorus were the result of more modular sampling (regular VCO's and FM'ed Zeroscillators) into Kontakt and tedious pre-sampling EQ to match the frequency spectrum analysis to some (real) brass samples on a sample by sample basis.
Background arpeggios and bubbly synth bits are all Sawtooth Animator.
The popcorn-y riff at 3:33 is the Minimoog played live - no sequencing.
The guitars are guitars
Crush Kill Destroy
Hey Joe
In high anxiety
Mr ufo
In your notoriety
He's all alone
This metal alien
Hes just a drone
Who's not mammalian
Crush, kill, destroy
He'll make the world his toy
Squish, maim, annoy
Look out! He knows bok choi!
Crush, kill, destroy
Raining down from above
Squish, maim, annoy
You always hurt the one you love
He's so alone
He might be foreign
From Sierra Leone?
Or Equadoran?
He's not like us
Doesn't have a brain stem
Looks like a bus
Or an a-t-m
Crush, kill, destroy
He'll make the world his toy
Squish, maim, annoy
Look out! He knows bok choi!
Crush, kill, destroy
Raining down from above
Squish, maim, annoy
You always hurt the one you love
Weird indeed
He's filled with fear
Not geared for speed
But quite sincere
