Ruth is an often-overlooked but profoundly beautiful part of the Bible. Many people try to interpret the story in isolation, but when viewed within it's place in the Hebrew Bible, the purpose becomes clearer: the Judges left Israel in a state of chaos and dysfunction, with no adequate leadership. Through the story of an unfortunate daughter and mother-in-law, we see God bringing about a new hope for his people: the lineage of a King.
