How I Copied my Favourite Shirt | clone your wardrobe, cottagecore style

Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!

I've wanted to do this video for a while but never got around it. But as I can see my favourite shirt is slowly getting more and more worn with every wash, it was TIME. This favourite shirt was bought a couple of years ago on a second hand website (which has since disappeared). I thought it had good cottagecore, hobbit-style kind of vibes! I bought 2 meters of two different kinds of lightweight fabrics for this. I had a lot left over, so you can definitely get away with less than that.

I then took a pattern from my shirt by laying it down flat and measuring every seam and element carefully. This was then drafted out into a full pattern. I made a mock-up, which turned out so well I kept it to wear and didn't use the warm-toned fabric in the end! Once the mock-up was done, I tackled the detailed construction of something that looks very simple. A quick look at french seams, setting in a collar, top-stitching, making a button placket, gathered sleeves and cuffs.

The pattern for this will be scanned and made available on my Patreon. It will only be in my size but should be easily adaptable as it is a loose-fitting garment. I think it can be quite fun to 'clone your wardrobe' and make more copies of things you know you love to wear. I hope this helps anyone think about copying a favourite piece that they are afraid will disintegrate soon!
